In addition, every grade in K – 5 employs science experiments, projects, outdoor learning and exploration activities, and other creative aspects of learning. All students in grades K – 5 have weekly enrichment courses, including PE, art/music, Spanish, horticulture, and computers. All elementary students have outdoor recess daily (weather permitting). First through 5th grades are each responsible once per week for the morning care of our goats and chickens.  Students experience two field trips throughout the year.

Students utilize the computer lab three to four times per week for math enrichment and other subject extensions.

All students in grades K through 5 take annual achievement tests (Terra Nova). All elementary students all participate in school, district, and regional competitions throughout the year as available. Examples include the following:

  • Creative Writing Competition
  • Spelling Bees
  • Math Olympics

Students in grades 3 through 5 (and into middle and high school) are evaluated for advanced math placement and those who are selected may move ahead in math as they are capable and as approved by the administration.
