Please Join Us for Poetry Out Loud!

Odessa Christian School is pleased to host our first ever school contest for Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest. The competition, presented in partnership with the Florida Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.

Over the past 10+ years, Poetry Out Loud has reached more than 3 million students and 45,000 teachers from 10,000 schools nationwide. On 2/8/18, Odessa Christian School students in grades 9-12 will participate in the OCS Poetry Out Loud school contest at our campus located at 19521 Michigan Avenue, Odessa.

The winner of this competition will advance to the Florida State Poetry Out Loud contest being held March 10, 2018, on the USF Tampa campus. The Florida champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals on April 25–26, 2017 in Washington, DC, where $50,000 in awards and school stipends will be distributed.

OCS is celebrating its 10th year serving the Odessa-Lutz-Land O' Lakes-Trinity area and invites the local community to attend this special event!
