OCS Athletics Mission Statement
The Odessa Christian School Athletic Department is committed to developing Christ-like character among our student athletes and encouraging these athletes to develop their God-given athletic abilities to their maximum potential. This is accomplished through a program that emphasizes Christian character and conduct, achievement in athletics, leadership skills, and respect for teammates and opponents.
The purpose of Odessa Christian School’s athletic program is to fulfill the mission of the school through successful and competitive participation in interscholastic and intramural sports. The objective of the program at all levels is to develop a lifestyle of mental, physical, and spiritual fitness that is manifested through commitment, self-discipline, sportsmanship, cooperation, loyalty, and the understanding that each student athlete is to “work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,” (Colossians 3:23). Each student is also taught to take joy in the Lord through one’s self, family, school, and community.
OCS is a member of the West Coast League and a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). We are pleased to field teams in a multitude of sports: Golf, girls' volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ track and field, cheerleading, and boys’ and girls’ cross country. Additional sports may be offered as interest allows. Participation is offered at the appropriate level beginning in middle school, with many of students participating in at least one sport. Our golf instruction begins in 3rd grade to instill early golf skills and appreciation of the game.
