Student-driven, blended learning approaches provide students with growth opportunities tailored to provide challenges for which they are ready
We embrace a growth mindset and encourage students to persevere through every challenge rather than back down from them
While we embrace technology and its benefits, we also value traditional methods that have withstood the test of time, such as reading books one can hold, writing by
hand, and other kinesthetic modalities
Students learn presentation skills and use them regularly throughout the school year in class and as part of public presentations in poetry, storytelling, musical
programs, and more
Because our school day is very intentionally scheduled and structured, elementary students typically do not have homework, allowing them time to play, be kids, spend
time with family, and recharge before the next day full of learning
"House" membership to help encourage a team mentality
Students are taught and given presonal responsibility in their learning to encourage buy-in and perseverance
Because of this personal responsibility and focus on growth, students can move more quickly or more deliberately as needed/desired through several subject
areas
Rather than learn subjects independently of one another, students regularly apply their learning across disciplines
Daily recess for free-play (Elementary and middle)
All students bring their own Chromebooks/laptops to allow for personal preference
Immersion in creation, including through intentional outdoor activities and by taking regularly scheduled classes outside
Regular studio, family, and school-wide events
Intentional field trips (varies per studio)
Three times per year, students take NWEA's MAP Growth assessments in reading, language arts, and math to help measure and drive each student's specific learning
path
