Student Technology Requirements

All students in grades 2 through 12 will be issued an OCS Google account that is to be used only for school purposes. Furthermore, it is recommended that parents oversee their child's initial log in to their school account (which will end in @odessachristianschool.org) to ensure parental permissions have been enabled for that account. 

Grades K and 1: 

No devices needed or allowed. 

Grades 2 through 5:

Chromebooks are preferred, however, if you already own a Windows laptop or Mac, that is acceptable.  (No iPads or tablets, please). Students must bring their Chromebooks to school daily, fully charged, and they must meet the following minimum requirements: 

• Ability to hold a charge for 5 hours
• Sufficient capability to connect to Wi-Fi
• Able to access the following websites: ixl.com, khanacademy.org, xtramath.org, and test.mapnwea.org
• Other websites may also be required. 
• Bring the charger to school every day as well, just in case. 
• We recommend students in elementary school leave their Chromebooks at school; please reach out to your child's teacher if you would like this option. 

Grades 6 through 8:

All students must have a Chromebook, laptop, or Mac. Students must bring their approved device to school daily, fully charged, and they must meet the following minimum requirements: 

• Ability to hold a charge for 5 hours
• Sufficient capability to connect to Wi-Fi
• Able to access the following websites: ixl.com, khanacademy.org, xtramath.org, and test.mapnwea.org
• Other websites may also be required. 
• Bring the charger to school every day as well, just in case.
